The L.J. Institute of Computer Applications is an AICTE recognized institute affiliated to GTU, founded in the year 2004. L J Institute of Computer Applications is one of the Institute having largest intake and is offering dynamic MCA programme. . It is managed by Lok Jagruti Kendra, one of the foremost and visionary educational trusts, founded by eminent academicians of Gujarat, that successfully runs more than 18 different educational institutes.The institute strives for a high quality education beyond the basic curricula, inculcating the spirit of camaraderie, cooperation, and being helpful to the society. It spares no effort in achieving its goal of giving the nation the sincere, truly dedicated and well trained IT professionals who would be the leaders.

To achieve perfection within the limits of individual’s capacity, mentoring is offered by the faculty. To fulfill this motto, the institute gears itself to maintain a very high quality in its selection of Faculty who are periodically reviewed by their peers, and further are encouraged to go for higher training and research whenever possible. The Institute has highly qualified and experienced full-time faculty members from across India.
The teaching facilities consist of state of art classrooms that have overhead LCD projector and leased line internet facility to enhance the learning experience. The Institute has well-equipped seminar halls and multiplex styled auditorium that can accommodate more than 450 students at a time.
The Institute has a rich library with more than 2000 titles, 14000 volumes and more than 50 journals and magazines. The library transactions are automated and has digital content consisting of e-books, CD, e-journals and question papers of previous years.
The Institute has more than 400 computers of latest configuration with 10 mbps leased line internet facility with a vision of serving the students’ quest for knowledge and upgradation. The laboratory has all the latest application and system software as per requirements. The institute conducts all the laboratory sessions in a batch of 20 students so as to mentor each student on personal basis.
Sports and Recreation:
The Institute has excellent facilities for volleyball, basketball and cricket besides a host of indoor sports. This institute has always created a niche for itself in the field of sports. The college has since long times, been participating in various inter college and university level tournaments.
The students at LJICAare involved in various co-curricular activities throughout the year to build their confidence, team work, social skills and inter-personal skills. Some of the events organized every year are:
Regular Seminars by faculty members and students are organized on the topics of recent trends in IT. The unique feature of seminars presented is team effort of presenter and discussants. The seminar topic is identified and circulated well in advance and presented in a group of two members. The team of 2 members as discussants will initiate the discussion and this in turn encourages collaborative learning.
The Institute organizes hands on workshops to bridge industry Institute Gap. The Institute invites experts from industry for conducting workshops. The participants are evaluated at the end of the workshop to measure the outcomes of the workshop.
Guest Lectures are organized periodically for the academic growth of the students. Several motivational lectures, career counselling lectures and technical lectures are organized all-round the year
Personality Development Programme:
Personality Development Programme is a regular feature of the Institute. As communication skill is necessary for employment, the institute takes extra effort for the development of communication skills through group discussion, debate etc. Some session of interview at institute level were also conducted to get better placements.
The college always encourages students to pursue excellence in curricular and co-curricular activities and students are given prizes, scholarships and certificates on annual day. Students excelling in the fields of sports and cultural activities are also similarly honored. All this play a vital role in making them strive for excellence and acquire global competence.

This institute has carved out a special niche for itself in the field of extra-curricular activities. The students of this institute have been regularly participating in the zonal and inter zonal youth festivals. The students have been participating with full fervor and zeal in all activities, academic, theatrical, fine arts or musical. They have proved their mettle in all the fields.All these activities help in students‟ personality development and providing community orientation. The institute celebrates cultural and sport activities for a week every year under “Enthusia – The Cultural Fest”.
ANTRAPRENEUR – The Business Incubator:
With more than 20 business ideas on floor and many more in the ambit, Antrapreneur- the business incubator is an initiative to help LJ students foray into business. The Incubator provides business incubation through expert guidance, hand holding by successful entrepreneurs, venture capital and infrastructure facilities. This venture is open to all students, alumni and fellow students of other L J Institutes.
LJ-INDUSTRY INTERACTION AND PLACEMENT CELL (LJIIPC) is a centralized training and placement cell across the L.J. Group of Institutes. The objective of the IIPC is to reduce the gap between industry expectations (practice) and academic offerings (theory) by direct involvement of industry to attain a symbiosis. All the Stakeholders, namely: Institutions, Industry, Students and Society stand to gain as it can be a win-win partnership. Exhaustive training is provided to the students which comprise of training session/workshop on various technical and non-technical grounds. Mock aptitude tests, mock interviews, lectures by Industry experts, Industry visits. Some of the top recruiters are:IBM , Capital Novus, Acty System India Pvt. Ltd, Cognizant, eClinical Works , Einfochips , Elitecore Technologies Pvt. Ltd. , Gateway Technolabs, Ilink, Indusa, Zeus Learning etc.
Smruti Samvad - The Alumni Association:
LJMCA has a strong alumni association having more than 1000 members, who are in constant touch with us. Regular interaction happened between the alumni and enrolled students. These interactions are through expert lectures and career counseling sessions. Cultural nights and alumni meets are regularly conducted every year in campus. They also provide the insight about the current requirement of the industry and helps in identifying scholarly subjects – beyond syllabus. Strong linkage among alumni members and the institute is available through Internet.
Other unique features:
Each student is mentored by a faculty member to nurture his talent and IT skills and guide him through the course. The mentors help the students to bring the best out of them.
Senior faculty members groom younger faculty members on pedagogy and research. This mechanism is very fruitful and encourages collaborative learning.
The students rate the faculty members on different parameters of teaching. This feedback is used for further improvements in the teaching pedagogy.
Each faculty member is appraised on their performance on various parameters. The performance is reviewed by the Director and experts identified from other organizations.
Stage gate workshop model is used to improve both the dimensions of learning process conceptual and operational for amalgamation of know - what, why and how for knowledge dissemination. The purpose of developing this model was to bridge the academic industry gap. This gap occurs as the performance evaluation of students doesn’t match industry standards. In this model of workshop the performance of the students is continuously evaluated and students are allowed to go forward for the next stage only if he/she clears the previous stage.
The institute is offering extra subjects apart from course curriculum prescribed by the university to bridge Industry Academia Gap. The students are taught PHP and aptitude as a part of regular teaching scheme.
Each faculty member is assigned a batch of 30 students for mentoring. The assigned Faculty mentor regularly communicate with the parents/guardians about their progress.
